Good Hair

Hi Ladies n’ Gents,

[youtube H5J0m00JQtk]

I have been so inspired by the whole natural hair movement that’s going on right now, it posed a question for me to ask you guys?

What is your definition of beauty (in terms of hair)? Is it a person with straight hair or someone with there natural hair?

I have decided that once I take this hair out that I will be wearing my own hair in its natural state, which is curly. I am excited to try it out again, however I am nervous.

I feel as though America sets its beauty standards (especially in the professional setting) as straight hair is best! However, I believe that many women are beginning to rebel against that n’ change the way beauty is seen amongst African American women or just women with natural hair in general. I personally feel that Americas standard of straight hair in the work force “Strips people of there individuality” What do you think?

So besides your written response above, please vote in the poll below as well!

Tell me what you think! Speak on IT!!!

*Besos*

I feel that people should not be defined by their hair. I could care less if its straight, curly, natural, braided, short or long. To each its own. Whatever you feel comfortable with, is what you should do to your hair. I myself, have been natural since September 2010 and I love it! I did it because my hair had heat damage from all of the pressing and flatironing done to my hair, it started breaking off really bad, and I wanted to get my natural curl pattern back for good. As protective styling I normally do a sew-in when… Read more »

I think that women should do whatever makes them feel comfortable, hair is a big thing for women, I totally understand that. On the other hand, whether you wear it straight, curly, or whatever, have an understanding of why you are doing what you are doing. I wear my hair curly or straight, but I don’t get perms, or weaves. There are original people (Black) all over the planet earth with straight hair as well, so in essence its still being true to yourself.

Straight hair.

If I can offer a suggestion, would you do a Regina King look? You would look so nice with Regina’s current hairdo.

I don’t necessarily rock a fro but I do go all natural when I can especially during the summer when its warm out. I just wash and wear. I’ve only walked out the house once rocking a fro (since I’ve been an adult) and that was a few years ago, it was liberating for sure but I did not feel comfortable. I do with my hair whatever I feel like that day. 🙂 I am beautiful and my hair is beautiful straight, curly or fro. I personally resent statements like “I am not my hair” because I don’t feel like… Read more »

I wear my hair natural and I love it. I think that it is sad that society has caused many to feel ashamed of what has naturally been given to them. Beauty comes from within. Sure we have to make the outside appealing but, like birthday presents, beautiful gifts come in all types of wrappings. It is horrible that many women feel as though they have to subject themselves to chemicals and harmful processes to get and keep a job. I am not my hair it compliments me but it does not define me or my ability.
